Flick for Appliance Integration
Flick's patents define Flick as a "power switch," which can be integrated with existing appliances to encourage users to allow for delayed action or starts based on the needs of the local utility. Utility operators would find value in this, providing incentives that can be used to reduce the upfront cost of appliances at point of sale.
Signaling the need for delay
Power switch/start switch could glow red during times of high prices or when electric grids are stressed, requiring the user to override for an immediate start. For example, a second button press.
Signaling lower costs
At all other times, a single press could start the appliance.
